We are adding a Videographer to our team, someone with an innate talent for storytelling and the ability to build content in a creative and compelling way. This is a full-time position with competitive pay and benefits (see below). Contract hires will also be considered.
Who is a Videographer?
KERTIS Videographers are technically skilled and creatively-minded in their approach to our diverse video projects, including documentary shoots, commercial campaigns, and corporate and online content.
KERTIS Videographers have a discerning eye for lighting, composition, and the ability to maintain a consistent look. They think on their feet to keep an eye out for unexpected moments and details to capture. They also occasionally take on editing responsibilities for short, quick turnaround projects.
What does a Videographer do at KERTIS?
In collaboration with the creative director, producer, and editor, videographers help determine a video’s look and feel to execute its creative storytelling vision, ensuring our deliverables meet client goals, creative concepts, and KERTIS standards.
KERTIS videographers adapt to a range of filming environments—studio-style setups, field locations, and live events.
They research and vet new equipment, troubleshoot technical issues, and stay up to date on evolving film techniques and trends.
KERTIS Videographers display flexibility, creativity, diplomacy, and confidence under pressure.
Responsibilities
Engage in ideation workshops and pre-production meetings to determine the visual approach and needs of a project
Create shot lists for each shoot and develop storyboards as needed
Determine and set up framing and lighting for interview subjects
Film high-quality b-roll footage via tripod, gimbal, dolly or handheld production
Capture drone footage with FAA Part 107 certification (KERTIS provided)
Monitor audio to ensure quality and clarity
Shoot occasional documentary and editorial still photography
Provide practical and creative input to producers and other crew members during production
Participate in post-production meetings to give insight into the content gathered during production
Occasionally create rough and final edits for short-form projects
Export and upload deliverables for client review
Archive projects according to established workflows
Organize and maintain production equipment
Skills & Requirements
3-5 years of experience operating digital cinema cameras and DSLR/mirrorless cameras
An eye for creative framing and cinematic filming techniques
Knowledge of lighting techniques for interviews and stylistic settings
Ability to capture high-quality audio using wired microphones and wireless audio systems
Strong narrative storytelling skills
Experience with Adobe Creative Suite or other NLE’s
Organizational skills and attention to detail
Ability to work effectively in fast-paced environments
Creative problem-solving & critical-thinking skills
Self-motivated & open-minded to give and receive constructive feedback
Diplomatic and supportive attitude
Community & globally minded
Availability to work occasional nights/weekends and travel out of town for up to 7 days
Salary + Benefits
$50-60k Base Compensation depending on experience / skill level
Louisville based position but we have a hybrid working environment
